Instructional Adviser – Revised Secondary Maths Curriculum

About the role

The Fiji Program Support Platform is seeking an Instructional Adviser to lead the implementation of the Revised Secondary Maths Curriculum (RSMC) under the Australia‑Fiji Education Program. This short‑term, 50‑day contract is remote‑based with required travel to Suva, Fiji, and supports the Ministry of Education’s goal of improving numeracy outcomes for Fijian secondary students.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on the design, rollout and evaluation of the RSMC across trial schools.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Education, school heads and teachers to align curriculum materials with national policies and GEDSI principles.
• Develop instructional resources, professional‑development workshops and monitoring tools.
• Travel to Suva for stakeholder meetings, classroom observations and capacity‑building sessions.
• Report on progress, challenges and recommendations to the Fiji Program Support Platform and DFAT.

Required profile

• Proven experience in secondary mathematics teaching or curriculum development.
• Familiarity with education systems in Pacific Island contexts is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, manage a short‑term project and deliver high‑quality outputs remotely.
• Willingness to travel to Fiji for on‑site activities.
