Instructional Adviser – Revised Secondary Maths Curriculum (RSMC)

About the role

The Fiji Ministry of Education, supported by the Australia Fiji Education Program, is seeking an Instructional Adviser to develop a comprehensive set of Year 10 Mathematics instructional tools aligned with the Revised Secondary Maths Curriculum (RSMC). The role is a short‑term, remote‑based consultancy of 50 working days, with occasional travel to Suva for stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Review RSMC documents, Year 10 syllabus and assessment guidelines to identify key competencies, learning outcomes and gaps.
• Design curriculum‑aligned teacher guides, student activity sheets, differentiated learning tasks and assessment tools that reflect Fiji’s context and GEDSI considerations.
• Incorporate gender‑responsive, disability‑inclusive and climate‑disaster‑resilience elements into all instructional materials.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations with the Ministry of Education and AFEP, present draft materials, and revise outputs based on feedback.
• Ensure quality assurance through consistency, accuracy, pedagogical soundness and user‑friendly formatting, and deliver an inception report, draft and final instructional packages, and a concluding recommendations report.
