National Coordinator, Small Grants Programme (SGP)

About the role

The Small Grants Programme (SGP) National Coordinator will be based in the UNDP Fiji office and will report through a matrixed line to the Resident Representative (or Deputy Resident Representative) and the SGP Regional Programme Specialist. The role includes supervising the SGP Programme Associate/Assistant and ensuring effective implementation of the SGP at the country level.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coach the SGP Country Programme Associate/Assistant, fostering teamwork with the National Steering Committee and UNDP country office.
• Develop and implement the annual work plan, set performance targets, and prepare the administrative and project budget for the SGP Country Office.
• Formulate, update and monitor the Country Programme Strategy, aligning it with national environmental priorities and the GEF Small Grants Programme objectives.
• Manage grant allocations, country operating budget and ensure compliance with SGP Standard Operating Procedures and UNOPS regulations.
• Organise stakeholder workshops, support civil society and community‑based organisations in preparing project concepts and proposals that fit SGP strategic initiatives.
• Oversee ongoing SGP grant projects, conduct periodic monitoring and quality control, and authorise planning grants as required.
