Commis III Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis III supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking basic dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. This entry‑level position is ideal for individuals eager to develop culinary skills within a hospitality setting.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook cold and hot foods, operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality, and ensure proper presentation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions, and maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, tools, and equipment.
• Check and record appliance and food temperatures, and follow all safety and security policies.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field (advantageous).
• Previous experience in a pastry or bakery kitchen is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of baking techniques, food preparation, and hygiene standards.
• Strong attention to detail, good communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Physically fit for prolonged standing, lifting up to 25 lb, and repetitive movements.
