Country Engagement Specialist (Pacific)

About the role

The Country Engagement Specialist will serve as the strategic single point of contact for assigned Pacific countries, driving the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and maximizing the impact of the NDC Partnership Support Unit.

Key responsibilities

• Lead country engagement and matchmaking, identifying needs and linking them to available support, funds, and partners.
• Support request‑for‑support processes, including guidance on concept notes, terms of reference, and budget plans.
• Conduct quality assurance of support forms and evaluate proposals for Partnership Action Fund calls.
• Facilitate capacity‑building activities, such as training on the NDC implementation plan online tool.
• Build and maintain relationships with government focal points, embassies, and in‑country partners to enhance visibility and resource mobilisation.
• Coordinate and lead technical workshops, supervise embedded advisors, and ensure delivery of high‑quality outputs.
• Prepare mission announcements, communication materials, and post‑mission analysis reports.

Required profile

• Experience in climate‑related programmes, NDC implementation, or international development.
• Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including governments, UN agencies, and NGOs.
• Strong analytical and coordination skills to monitor engagement progress and identify risks and opportunities.
