Programme Leader – Natural Resources Management

About the role

The Pacific Community (SPC) seeks a Programme Leader to guide its Natural Resources Management portfolio within the Land Resources Division. This senior position will shape strategies that enhance the sustainable use of plant genetic resources, forest landscapes, and resilient agricultural systems across the Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert scientific advice on conservation, forest and landscape management, and sustainable agriculture.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives for member countries and territories.
• Develop and oversee programmes that diversify livelihoods, improve market access, and strengthen food and nutrition security.
• Coordinate research, monitoring, and knowledge‑exchange activities across the region.
• Collaborate with internal divisions, external partners, and Pacific stakeholders to align efforts with regional development goals.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in natural resources, agriculture, environmental science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in programme leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong understanding of Pacific ecosystems, land productivity, and climate‑resilient agriculture.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
