Project Officer – Transport and Connectivity

About the role

The EU Delegation to the Pacific in Suva is recruiting a Project Officer (Group I) for a fixed‑term 2‑year contract. Reporting to the Head of Regional Partnerships and a Team Leader, the officer will provide analytical, operational and coordination support for regional cooperation priorities, especially in infrastructure, transport and digital connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Support the full project cycle – planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and closure – for transport, digital connectivity and other regional actions.
• Assist with financial and contractual management, including verification of documentation, payment checks and updates in European Commission systems.
• Monitor results, collect data and contribute to internal and external reporting, briefing notes and portfolio reviews.
• Analyse sectoral and policy developments, contribute to policy dialogue and identify strategic opportunities aligned with the EU Global Gateway.
• Develop and maintain relations with multilateral financial institutions, donors and partners, tracking financing opportunities and co‑financing options.
• Represent the Delegation in meetings, workshops and regional forums, preparing briefing materials and follow‑up actions.
• Contribute to communication and visibility activities, preparing presentations, website content and social media updates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, business administration, economics, international development, political science, international relations or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in project management, aid management or international cooperation.
• Working knowledge (C1) of English.
• Excellent computer literacy and proficiency with standard office and digital collaboration tools.
• Right to reside and work in Fiji, medically fit and able to provide a clean police clearance.
