HR Associate – UNDP Pacific Office

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking an HR Associate to support its Pacific multi‑country office based in Suva. The role contributes to the implementation of UNDP’s strategic priorities across ten Pacific island nations, ensuring effective human‑resource management and compliance with UN policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR support to staff across the Pacific office, including recruitment, onboarding, and contract administration.
• Assist in the implementation of the tiered application process and ensure eligibility criteria are met.
• Maintain personnel records, monitor staff appointments, and support contract renewals or terminations as required.
• Support results management, compliance monitoring, and reporting for HR activities.
• Collaborate with the policy, innovation, operations, and management teams to align HR practices with programme objectives.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience working in an international or multilateral organization is desirable.
• Strong understanding of UN staff categories, contract types, and HR policies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse cultures.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UN staff appointment categories (PA, FTA, TA, PSA, etc.).
• Familiarity with results‑based management and compliance processes.
