National Mitigation Consultant – Fiji

About the role

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) seeks a National Mitigation Consultant to support Fiji’s super‑pollutant agenda. Based at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the consultant will work closely with the CCAC Focal Point and the Department of Climate Change to ensure timely delivery of projects aligned with Fiji’s national priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide policy and technical advice on mitigation strategies for short‑lived climate pollutants (SLCPs).
• Support the CCAC Focal Point in coordinating national projects and reporting to the CCAC Secretariat.
• Assist in drafting proposals to access climate finance for mitigation initiatives.
• Ensure all deliverables are reviewed by the Department of Climate Change and validated by the CCAC Focal Point.
• Facilitate alignment of project outcomes with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

Required profile

• Strong background in climate change mitigation and SLCPs.
• Experience working with government agencies and international development partners.
• Proven ability to develop policy documents, project proposals, and technical reports.
• Familiarity with Fiji’s climate policies, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs).
