Resident Coordinator – Fiji (UN Development System)

About the role

The Resident Coordinator (RC) in Fiji leads the United Nations development system at country level, overseeing programme implementation not only in Fiji but also in the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General, the RC ensures that UN support aligns with national priorities and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest governmental levels and foster collaboration with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead the UN Country Team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework.
• Coordinate system‑wide accountability and ensure effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Report annually to the host government on the progress of the UN Cooperation Framework.
• Advocate for accelerated action on the Sustainable Development Goals across the Pacific region.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development, preferably within the United Nations system.
• Proven leadership of multi‑agency teams and strong diplomatic skills.
• Deep understanding of the 2030 Agenda, SDGs and UN cooperation mechanisms.
• Ability to engage senior government officials and diverse stakeholders.
