About the role
The Pacific Community (SPC) is seeking a Data Analyst to support its Oceans and Maritime Programme. The role focuses on analysing oceanographic data to improve prediction and monitoring services for Pacific Island countries and territories.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, clean and validate ocean and maritime datasets from various sources.
- Perform statistical and geospatial analyses to generate predictive models and monitoring indicators.
- Prepare technical reports and visualisations for policy‑making and technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers and partner agencies within the Geoscience Energy and Maritime Division.
- Maintain data repositories and ensure data quality standards are met.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in data science, statistics, oceanography, environmental science or a related field.
- Experience working with large environmental datasets and an understanding of marine science concepts.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to communicate findings to non‑technical audiences.
Required skills
- Data cleaning and preprocessing.

- Report writing and data visualisation.
