Japanese Inflight Interpreter

About the role

The Japanese Inflight Interpreter will provide real-time language support to Japanese-speaking passengers on flights operating to and from Fiji. Working closely with cabin crew, the interpreter ensures clear communication, assists with announcements, and helps resolve any language-related issues during the flight.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret spoken English and Japanese for passengers throughout the flight.
• Assist cabin crew with translating safety briefings, service announcements, and passenger queries.
• Provide written translation of in‑flight documents, menus, and forms as needed.
• Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, representing the airline’s brand.
• Collaborate with the operations team to improve multilingual passenger experience.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in interpretation, translation, or a related hospitality role.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in tourism, languages, or a similar field.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Japanese.
• Strong communication and public‑relations abilities.
• Previous experience in the airline or tourism industry is an advantage.
• Positive, can‑do attitude and ability to work well in a team.
