N4H Pacific Regional Systems Thinking Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a consultant to support the scoping phase of the Nature for Health (N4H) initiative in the Pacific region. Working under the Regional Sub‑programme Coordinator for Nature Action and in close collaboration with SPREP and an international advisor, the consultant will apply a systems‑thinking approach to develop a detailed Implementation Project Document.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid baseline analyses on existing One Health, pandemic prevention, and biodiversity‑climate‑health initiatives and investments in the Pacific.
• Perform stakeholder analysis and design a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan for the N4H Pacific project.
• Plan and facilitate a co‑creation scoping workshop and bilateral meetings with Pacific Island Countries and relevant partners.
• Lead the drafting of the detailed Implementation Project Document outlining how N4H will reduce pandemic risk through environmental actions.
• Ensure timely delivery of high‑quality outputs and obtain necessary approvals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental health, One Health, or related fields, preferably in the Pacific context.
• Strong background in systems thinking and interdisciplinary project design.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct baseline and stakeholder analyses.
• Excellent facilitation skills for workshops and multi‑stakeholder consultations.
• Ability to work under supervision of UNEP staff and coordinate with regional partners.
