About the role
British American Tobacco is seeking a motivated Operator to join its manufacturing team in Fiji. The role focuses on operating and maintaining production equipment to meet daily targets while ensuring product quality and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Operate assigned equipment and production flow to meet business needs.
- Perform daily, weekly and major maintenance on the module and equipment.
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and execute corrective actions.
- Ensure product quality and compliance with QA and HS&E standards.
- Participate in shift and weekly DDS meetings to set priorities and report results.
- Apply IWS tools, execute standards, and maintain Daily Management Systems (DMS).
- Carry out changeovers according to standard work practices.
- Support loss‑elimination plans and develop improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Trade certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to analyse data using Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive attitude with a sense of urgency.
Required skills
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering knowledge.
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Problem‑solving techniques (5 Whys, 6W2H).
- Familiarity with 5S, EHS and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Machine troubleshooting (cigarette maker/packer) experience.
