Purchasing Officer – Local Buying

About the role

The Purchasing Officer – Local Buying will manage all local procurement activities for R.C. Manubhai & Co. in Suva. The role involves sourcing suppliers, reviewing quotations, processing purchase orders and ensuring timely stock replenishment across the company’s 11 branches.

Key responsibilities

• Source and evaluate local suppliers, request and review quotations.
• Prepare and process purchase orders in line with company policies.
• Coordinate with branch staff and internal departments to ensure timely stock replenishment.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and monitor delivery schedules.
• Resolve order discrepancies and support office administration within the purchasing function.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers and customers to provide responsive service.

Required profile

• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Experience in administrative assistance and office administration.
• Basic to intermediate accounting knowledge for invoice verification and cost tracking.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational abilities and the capacity to prioritise multiple tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively on‑site in Suva with a professional and ethical approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with common office software (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
• Familiarity with inventory or ERP systems.
• Basic accounting skills.
