Saw Shop Manager

About the role

The Saw Shop Manager will lead all activities within the saw shop, ensuring that cutting equipment operates at peak efficiency and complies with safety standards. This position is based in Fiji and reports to senior production leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise saw shop operations, optimizing performance of saws, blades and cutting tools.
• Oversee sharpening, tipping, tensioning and leveling of bandsaws, circular saws and cutter heads to guarantee precise timber dimensions.
• Maintain strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, industry standards and occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations.
• Conduct independent compliance audits and risk assessments.
• Enforce OHS laws specific to saw‑doctoring environments, managing noise exposure, metal dust extraction and hazardous waste disposal.
• Apply analytical, reporting and problem‑solving skills to improve processes.
• Utilize expertise in saw‑mill operations (pine, hardwood, wood chipping) and tooling maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field with 5‑6 years of relevant experience.
• Diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering with 7‑8 years of experience.
• Trade Certificate in Saw Doctoring or related discipline with 8‑9 years of experience.
• Proven track record in saw shop or saw‑mill environments.
