Senior Health & Safety Officer

About the role

The Western Division of Vinod Patel Group is looking for a Senior Health & Safety Officer to lead occupational health and safety performance across its four manufacturing companies. This role will drive safety culture, ensure compliance, and protect employees in high‑risk industrial environments.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor OHS policies, systems, procedures and safe work practices across all manufacturing sites.
• Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, hazard identification and risk assessments, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Lead investigations of incidents, accidents and near‑misses, performing root‑cause analysis and recommending preventive measures.
• Maintain OHS reporting, records, risk registers, audit findings and ensure timely closure of compliance actions.
• Deliver OHS training, inductions, toolbox talks and awareness programmes, and support OHS Committee activities.
• Partner with management, production, engineering and maintenance teams to provide technical guidance and coaching.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in OHS, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in health and safety within manufacturing or high‑risk industrial operations.
• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, ISO 45001, machinery safety, PPE and contractor safety.
• Training of Trainers (TOT) certification or registration as a Training Officer is an advantage.
• Valid Group Two (2) driving licence.
