Steward Guest Service Attendant

About the role

The Steward Guest Service Attendant ensures the cleanliness and proper functioning of kitchen and service areas in a hotel environment. This full‑time position supports food‑and‑beverage operations by maintaining equipment, handling dishware, and managing waste.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand‑wash stations, pot‑scrubbing stations and trash compactors.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen, store‑room, tables, tools, knives and other equipment using detergent, rinsing and sanitising chemicals.
• Receive deliveries, store perishables correctly, rotate stock and ensure clean wares are stored in appropriate areas.
• Inspect, pull, stack and re‑scrub items that do not meet quality standards.
• Rack and spray items with hot water, sort, soak and wash/re‑wash silverware.
• Break down dirty bus tubs, empty and maintain trashcans, dumpsters and recycling bins.
• Clean and mop all assigned areas, dispose of glass and cardboard in proper containers.
• Follow company safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents and unsafe conditions.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, support team goals and protect company assets.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and moving objects up to 50 lb, and stand, walk or sit for extended periods.

Required profile

• Minimum education: Year 12 (secondary school level).
• Basic English communication skills for speaking and understanding instructions.
• Good physical fitness to stand, lift and clean for long hours.
• Eligibility to work in Fiji.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Use of sanitising chemicals and 3‑compartment sink procedures.
