Legal and Regulatory Readiness Assessment Consultant

About the role

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is seeking an experienced legal consultant to conduct a regulatory readiness assessment for Part 12 (Climate Displacement & Relocation) of Fiji’s Climate Change Act 2021. The assignment supports an EU‑funded project aimed at strengthening climate‑change governance in Fiji.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing legislation, SOPs, guidelines and institutional arrangements related to climate displacement and relocation.
• Identify components suitable for translation into regulations and pinpoint legal, institutional or operational gaps.
• Develop a regulatory roadmap and provide drafting inputs for future regulations under Part 12.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and deliverables for GGGI and the Department of Climate Change (DoCC).
• Coordinate closely with the GGGI Senior Legal Associate and maintain regular liaison with the DoCC Adaptation Unit.

Required profile

• Proven experience in legal analysis, regulatory assessment and climate‑change law.
• Familiarity with Fiji’s legal framework and environmental legislation is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, research and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work independently on a deliverable‑based consultancy.
