Health Information Systems Developer/Analyst

About the role

The Fiji Program Support Platform (FPSP) is an Australian Government investment supporting Fiji's development priorities, including the Australia Fiji Health Program (AFHP) implemented with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS). The Health Information Systems (HIS) Developer/Analyst designs, develops and maintains software and digital applications that support MHMS's operational, administrative and service delivery needs. The role sits in the Digital Health Unit, reports to the Manager Applications and Projects (MHMS) and is accountable to the Project Manager Digital Health. It is a long-term position from November 2026 to 31 December 2027, reserved for Fiji nationals, based in Suva.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver, administer and report on health information system training at health facilities, monitoring usage, data entry and competency.
• Carry out audits of health information usage and compile audit reports for analysis.
• Procure and manage inventory of health information systems and consumables such as printers and laminating machines.
• Upload data into the health information system on request and verify HIS database backups.
• Provide user and system support, including ensuring Free Medicine and ICT availability.
• Assist with data cleaning and other tasks assigned by supervisors.
• Research and propose new ideas and technologies to improve healthcare services in Fiji.
• Contribute to Ministry requirements, including planning, budgeting and selection activities when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computing science, software engineering or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of proven experience in systems analysis, design, development, administration, integration and data management.
• Experience working with servers, databases and applications, and with the software development lifecycle.
• Experience managing change, deploying in UAT, staging and production environments, and scheduling and directing subordinates.
• Experience developing training materials, running and evaluating user training, and documenting user acceptance testing.

Required skills

• SQL, C#, C++, PHP or Visual Basic.
• Scripting for ETL.
• Knowledge of new technologies that can strengthen health information systems.
