Project IT Assistant – Disaster Information Systems

About the role

The UNDP Green Climate Fund Programme, working with the Government of Fiji, is recruiting a Project IT Assistant to manage and optimise the ICT infrastructure, enterprise platforms and disaster information systems of the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO). The post supports Fiji's emergency management system and digital transformation, and works under the technical direction of the National Coordinator and the Project Manager of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative. The vacancy is open to internal and external applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain enterprise ICT infrastructure: secure servers, enterprise networks, databases, cloud platforms and storage, with cybersecurity protocols, role-based access controls, automated backups and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Manage the ICT hardware asset register, software licensing, system upgrades and hardware refresh in line with Government and UNDP standards.
• Administer the National Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) platform and integrate it with warning authorities such as FMS, MRD, MSAF and MoHMS.
• Maintain digital gateways and API connections between NDRMO systems, the Ministry of Communications, mobile network operators, broadcasters and digital channels for rapid warning dissemination.
• Run routine technical tests, simulation exercises and operational readiness checks of automated public warning systems.
• Maintain and scale the National Disaster Risk Information System (NDRIS) and support the NDRRP online M&E tracker, including data quality control and user administration.
• Develop dashboards, geospatial visualisations and reporting tools for real-time decision-making.
• Keep the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) ready 24/7, with video conferencing, situational displays, incident logging and communication tools.
