Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing all engineering and facilities operations across the resort. This position ensures the efficient maintenance of physical assets such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and life‑safety systems while contributing to budgeting, capital projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day operations of the Engineering department and supervise repair and maintenance work orders.
• Plan, schedule, and evaluate preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and safety systems.
• Oversee contractors and external service providers to ensure quality, compliance, and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, operate critical systems (generators, fire pumps), and provide emergency response.
• Assist in managing departmental budgets, controlling costs, and supporting capital‑expenditure planning.
• Promote a service culture focused on guest satisfaction and resolve maintenance‑related guest concerns promptly.
• Guide, supervise, and coach engineering team members, fostering teamwork and effective communication.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and safety training for engineering staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering or facilities management within a hospitality environment.
• Ability to supervise and mentor a technical team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Capability to manage budgets, track material usage, and support capital projects.
