Assistant Manager Engineering – Facilities

About the role

The Assistant Manager Engineering – Facilities supports the management, maintenance, and operation of all engineering systems, utilities, and infrastructure at a hotel on Denarau Island. Working closely with the Engineering Department, the role ensures that building systems run safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards while delivering an excellent guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in day‑to‑day operations of the Engineering and Facilities teams, overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Monitor and maintain electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen, laundry, and fire‑life‑safety systems.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back‑of‑house facilities, plant rooms, and critical infrastructure.
• Support planning and execution of engineering projects, renovations, refurbishments, and asset‑improvement initiatives.
• Help manage utility systems and drive energy‑conservation and sustainability programs.
• Develop preventive‑maintenance schedules, track work orders, and ensure timely completion.
• Assist with budgeting, inventory control, purchasing, and compliance documentation.
• Provide leadership, scheduling, performance monitoring, and training for engineering staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hotel or large‑facility engineering operations.
• Ability to lead and develop a technical team, including scheduling and performance management.
• Strong focus on safety, guest comfort, and operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with guests, contractors, and suppliers.
