International Operations Specialist

About the role

The International Operations Specialist will be based in the FAO Fiji Office and will provide operational support to assigned projects and programme activities across the Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the operational focal point for project activities, coordinating day‑to‑day implementation and escalating constraints with solutions.
• Support preparation and regular updating of work plans, procurement plans, staffing plans and delivery forecasts.
• Monitor project milestones, indicators, expenditures and identify bottlenecks, recommending corrective actions.
• Review budgets, transaction listings and support financial closure of projects.
• Coordinate procurement actions, prepare invitations to bid, requests for quotation and contracts in line with FAO rules.
• Prepare and support project governance meetings, compile documentation and monitor follow‑up actions.
• Maintain accurate project information in FAO corporate systems and produce analytical updates for management review.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Finance, Economics or related field (or bachelor’s degree with additional experience).
• At least 5 years of experience in project/programme management, operations or financial management.
• Working knowledge of English (level C).
• Knowledge of FAO rules, procedures and systems is an asset.
