Investment Specialist – Pacific Markets

About the role

The Investment Specialist will support UNCDF’s mission to mobilize capital for sustainable development in the Pacific region. The 6‑month contract focuses on originating, structuring, and managing blended‑finance investments that address climate, MSME, digital, and resilient infrastructure needs.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop investment opportunities in Pacific Small Island Developing States, building a diversified pipeline aligned with UNCDF’s strategic priorities.
• Lead transaction structuring, due diligence, and execution using blended‑finance instruments such as concessional loans, guarantees, and grants.
• Manage an active portfolio, monitor financial performance, compliance, and development impact, and recommend remedial actions when needed.
• Strengthen investment ecosystems by supporting local financial intermediaries, policymakers, and partners to improve capital access.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing, capacity building, and advocacy to enhance investment readiness in target markets.

Required profile

• Experience in blended finance, investment structuring, and portfolio management, preferably in emerging or fragile markets.
• Strong analytical skills for financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and market feasibility studies.
• Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including private sector partners, DFIs, donors, and UN agencies.
