National Consultant – Humanitarian Specialist (Suva, Fiji)

About the role

UN Women is seeking a National Consultant to provide humanitarian expertise for its Pacific Multi‑Country Office based in Suva, Fiji. The specialist will support gender‑responsive humanitarian action across 14 Pacific Island Countries, helping to reduce the disproportionate impact of disasters on women and girls.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing gender‑inclusive humanitarian preparedness, response and disaster risk reduction strategies.
• Provide technical guidance to UN agencies and national partners on gender‑responsive humanitarian programming.
• Support coordination mechanisms within the Inter‑Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and contribute to regional humanitarian initiatives.
• Help develop and disseminate best‑practice guidance on gender equality in humanitarian contexts.

Required profile

• National consultant with proven experience in humanitarian action and gender equality.
• Familiarity with the Pacific region’s disaster‑prone environment and related challenges.
• Ability to work collaboratively with UN agencies, governments and civil‑society partners.
