Project Officer – Transport Infrastructure and Connectivity Development

About the role

The EU Delegation to the Pacific in Suva is seeking a Project Officer (Group I) to support transport infrastructure and connectivity projects across Pacific Island Countries, Papua New Guinea and French Overseas Territories. The role is fixed‑term for two years and reports to the Head of Regional Partnerships and a Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse transport infrastructure conditions, climate risks and connectivity gaps in the Pacific region.
• Support the implementation of the EU Global Gateway Strategy, focusing on sustainable port and aviation projects.
• Develop and maintain relationships with multilateral financial institutions (ADB, World Bank) and bilateral donors (Australia, New Zealand) to coordinate investments.
• Promote climate‑resilient and low‑carbon transport solutions, including green shipping and sustainable aviation.
• Manage end‑to‑end project lifecycles, including procurement, financial compliance and reporting using EU tools.

Required profile

• Experience in transport infrastructure or connectivity projects, preferably in a development or diplomatic context.
• Knowledge of climate resilience, donor coordination and EU development policies.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including governments, donors and private sector actors.
