About the role
The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is seeking an Investment Specialist to lead the sourcing, structuring and deployment of concessional capital for MSMEs and financial institutions across the Pacific region, including projects funded by the Sustainable Pacific Blue Circle Fund and the GFCR Investing in Coral Reefs initiative.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct systematic market research to identify investment opportunities and map financing landscapes in target Pacific countries.
- Design and draft investment strategy documents, operational guidelines and blended‑finance structures that align with UNCDF’s strategic objectives.
- Perform due diligence, financial analysis and credit risk scoring on prospective transactions, building financial models to assess viability.
- Engage with co‑investors, development finance institutions and private‑sector partners to mobilise additional capital.
- Monitor trends in blended finance, climate finance and impact investing, and propose mitigation strategies for regulatory barriers.
- Support strategic planning, reporting and donor engagement for UNCDF’s investment portfolio.
