Pacific Region Policy Adviser

About the role

The Pacific Region Policy Adviser will provide technical assistance and coordinate the delivery of the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) Secretariat responsibilities under the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme 2026‑2029. The role serves as the PDD focal point on disaster displacement for governments and stakeholders across the Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate implementation of the Pacific Climate Mobility Partnerships Programme, covering staying in place, planned relocations, migration, displacement and stranded migrants.
• Support Forum member countries with comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments.
• Establish and manage the Climate Mobility Action Hub (CMAH) and facilitate peer‑to‑peer exchanges on planned relocation.
• Develop and promote regional governance and coordination mechanisms that are rights‑based, inclusive and culturally appropriate.
• Provide policy advice, guidance and technical support to governments, UN agencies and other partners on disaster displacement and climate mobility.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public policy, international development, environmental studies or a related field.
• Significant experience working on disaster displacement, climate mobility or related policy frameworks in the Pacific region.
• Proven ability to engage with governments, UN agencies and civil‑society stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and coordination skills, with experience in risk and vulnerability assessments.
