Project Officer – Sustainable Agriculture and Agrifood Value Chain Development

About the role

The EU Delegation to the Pacific in Suva seeks a Project Officer to support sustainable agriculture and agrifood value‑chain development across Pacific Island Countries, Papua New Guinea and French overseas territories.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse agricultural sector performance, climate impacts and market trends to identify risks and opportunities.
• Promote climate‑resilient and climate‑smart practices among smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
• Support the design and financing of agrifood value‑chain infrastructure, coordinating with EU agencies and private stakeholders.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including planning, budgeting, procurement and financial compliance using EU Commission tools.
• Engage with government ministries, farmer organisations, MSMEs and donors to ensure policy alignment and effective implementation.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, rural development or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in project management, agricultural development or value‑chain analysis.
