Secondary Manufacturing Department Manager

About the role

British American Tobacco Fiji is seeking a Secondary Manufacturing Department Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations in Suva. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and consistent production of quality products while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, safety, and efficiency targets.
• Monitor performance against production plans and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity, reduce waste, and enhance equipment performance.
• Lead problem‑solving efforts, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct daily operational review meetings and ensure performance objectives are achieved.
• Coach, develop, and support team members to strengthen technical and operational skills.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, reviewing incidents and preventive measures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver business objectives and operational projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in a manufacturing or production supervisory role.
• Proven experience leading and developing operational teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, continuous improvement methodologies and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with workplace safety, quality management and factory operating standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
