Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering will lead the engineering and maintenance functions at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, ensuring safe, compliant, and comfortable experiences for guests and staff. You will also support special projects and renovations across IHG hotels in Fiji while fostering a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily engineering activities, assigning the right team to each task.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance programme that promotes safety, comfort and sustainability.
• Oversee all physical operations, including repairs, parts ordering and waste minimisation.
• Coach, mentor and set performance goals for engineering staff, recognising excellence.
• Supervise maintenance personnel, tradespeople and external contractors in a large luxury resort setting.
• Respond flexibly to ad‑hoc duties and ensure guest satisfaction.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• 8+ years of experience in building maintenance or construction, preferably in an international luxury resort.
• Broad expertise across plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry disciplines.
• Level 3 EPA certification; HVAC and refrigeration certificates; licensed plumber and/or journeyman electrician/carpenter as required.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
