About the role

The United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is recruiting an Investment Specialist (IPSA-11) in Suva, Fiji, open to both internal and external applicants. The assignment is 6 months full-time, with possible extension depending on business or project needs and the availability of funds. The specialist deploys investment and blended finance expertise to support the origination, structuring, execution and management of UNCDF's growing investment portfolio in last-mile and underserved markets, with a particular focus on the Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and support investment origination and pipeline development in the Pacific, including Small Island Developing States, focusing on climate finance, MSME finance, digital finance and resilient infrastructure, and build a diversified pipeline of bankable, impact-driven opportunities.
• Lead transaction structuring and execution using blended finance instruments such as concessional loans, guarantees, investment grants and blended finance vehicles, and conduct end-to-end due diligence including financial analysis, credit risk assessment and market feasibility.
• Manage an active portfolio of investments, monitoring financial performance, compliance and development results, and recommend remedial actions such as restructuring or enhanced support.
• Support investment readiness and market development by helping partner institutions, local financial intermediaries and policymakers overcome constraints to capital mobilization, and facilitating access to follow-on financing.
