Mechanic (Gas Technician)

About the role

The Mechanical Gas Technician installs, maintains, inspects and repairs gas systems and gas‑fired equipment across the property, ensuring safe and efficient operation in line with regulations and Marriott standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain and repair LPG and gas distribution systems, including pipelines, valves, regulators and meters.
• Diagnose and fix gas leaks, equipment faults and mechanical failures; perform preventive maintenance on kitchen, laundry and engineering equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, manage inventory of spare parts and tools, and keep accurate records and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering and other departments to minimise disruption to guests and support emergency or breakdown situations.
• Conduct safety checks, leak detection tests and ensure compliance with gas regulations and workplace health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Trade Certificate or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Refrigeration or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in gas systems maintenance, mechanical services or facilities maintenance.
• Working rights in Fiji.

Required skills

• LPG system knowledge and gas distribution network handling.
• Experience with valves, regulators, burners and gas‑fired equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and maintenance documentation.
• Use of testing equipment and maintenance tools safely.
