Opex Accountant

About the role

Digicel Pacific is seeking a motivated Opex Accountant to join its Finance team in Suva. Reporting to the Financial Controller in Samoa, you will ensure proper accountability of operating expenditures and provide business support to Digicel Samoa Ltd.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve OPEX purchase orders twice daily, ensuring budget compliance and adherence to the approval timetable.
• Perform month‑end reporting, including OPEX journal entries, pre‑payment updates, accrual schedules and GL reconciliations.
• Maintain and circulate the weekly OPEX Tracker and hold fortnightly meetings with market heads to compare spend versus budget.
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller to improve process controls, cost optimisation and market initiatives.
• Prepare the operating expenditure budget, load it into Management Reporter (Great Plains) and EPBCS, and update GL codes.
• Produce monthly cash‑flow actuals and forecasts with commentary on operating, investing and financing activities.
• Review cash payment forecasts, coordinate with the AP team and advise on cash‑flow optimisation.
• Analyse foreign‑exchange transactions and compile FX analysis reports.
• Complete quarterly audit workbooks and submit bi‑annual environmental reports.
• Review contracts for IFRS 16 qualification and upload them to Nomos.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience.
• Hands‑on experience with finance ERP systems, preferably Workplace and Great Plains.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
