Opex Accountant

About the role

Digicel Pacific is seeking a motivated Opex Accountant to join its Finance Team in Nabua, Fiji. Reporting to the Financial Controller – Fiji, you will ensure proper accountability of all operating expenditure functions and provide business support across the market.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve OPEX purchase orders twice daily, ensuring budget compliance and adherence to approval timetables.
• Perform month‑end reporting, including OPEX journal entries, pre‑payment and accrual updates, and GL reconciliations.
• Maintain and circulate the weekly OPEX Tracker and hold fortnightly meetings with market heads to compare spend against budget.
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller to improve process controls, cost optimisation, and market initiatives.
• Prepare the operating expenditure budget, load it into Great Plains and EPBCS, and manage cash‑flow actuals and forecasts.
• Analyse foreign‑exchange transactions and produce FX analysis.
• Complete quarterly audit workbooks, submit environmental reports, and manage IFRS 16 contract uploads.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2‑3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with finance ERP systems, preferably Workplace and Great Plains.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite.
