Payroll Team Leader

About the role

The Payroll Team Leader oversees the accurate processing of employee wages, deductions, and related payroll activities for hourly staff. This position ensures compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and collective bargaining agreements while providing guidance to employees and managers on payroll matters.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and reconcile time punches, hours worked, and pay adjustments before posting to the payroll system.
• Process payroll runs, issue paychecks, and generate earnings statements.
• Maintain, update, and archive employee payroll records in accordance with retention policies.
• Assist management with payroll preparation, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.
• Back up transaction files and transmit them to the payroll system following company procedures.
• Provide payroll-related information to staff, managers, and supervisors, including tax issues and benefit plans.
• Adjust time‑clock settings, resolve punch errors, and manage basic system configurations.
• Audit financial and payroll reports for accuracy and proper coding.
