Policy Officer – Economic and Trade Affairs (Group I)

About the role

The European Union Delegation to the Pacific in Suva seeks a Policy Officer (Group I) to support the Regional Partnerships Section. You will work closely with the Head of Delegation, the Directorate‑General for Trade and Economic Security, and the Head of Regional Partnerships to advance EU trade policy across Pacific Island Countries, Papua New Guinea and French Overseas Territories.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor negotiations, implementation and impact of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the EU and Pacific states.
• Track policy developments in trade, fiscal matters, tax systems, financial services, land ownership, IP rights, competition and foreign investment.
• Provide analysis and briefing material for senior officials and stakeholders.
• Support preparation of reports, proposals and communication with EU headquarters and regional partners.
• Participate in online meetings with European and Pacific partners, occasionally outside regular hours.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in economics, international trade, law or related fields.
• Experience in policy analysis or trade affairs, preferably in a multilateral or diplomatic context.
• Strong analytical and writing skills, with ability to synthesize complex information.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French or a Pacific language is an asset.
