Regional Director, Pacific

About the role

BirdLife International is seeking a Regional Director for the Pacific to lead its partnership network from Suva, Fiji. The role will shape and implement the regional conservation strategy, strengthen collaborations with partner organisations, and represent BirdLife across the Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Pacific programme, aligning it with global objectives and regional priorities.
• Lead and develop the Pacific Global Team, overseeing budgeting, HR, legal and administrative functions.
• Strengthen the Pacific Partnership by fostering collaboration, shared planning and effective governance with partners and the Pacific Executive Committee.
• Identify and secure strategic partnerships and Asia‑Pacific funding opportunities.
• Deliver the Pacific conservation strategy, coordinating campaigns, initiatives and events.
• Represent the partnership with governments, donors, regional institutions and other stakeholders to influence policy and advance conservation goals.
• Oversee network development, capacity building and the sharing of best practices across the region.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in international conservation, environmental NGOs or related sectors.
• Demonstrated success in managing multi‑country programmes and leading diverse teams.
• Strong track record in fundraising, partnership development and policy advocacy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively across cultures and remote locations.
