About the role
The Pacific Region Policy Adviser will support the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) hosted by UNOPS. The role focuses on translating the Nansen Initiative Protection Agenda into concrete policy actions for Pacific states, helping them address displacement, migration and planned relocation linked to disasters and climate change.
Key responsibilities
- Assist Pacific governments and stakeholders in implementing the recommendations of the Nansen Initiative Protection Agenda.
- Facilitate regional dialogues on disaster‑related displacement, migration and planned relocation.
- Develop and promote normative and policy frameworks that protect displaced or relocated populations.
- Coordinate with UNOPS and partner organisations to monitor progress and share best practices.
- Provide technical advice and policy analysis on climate‑change‑related displacement issues.
Required profile
- Experience working on climate change, disaster risk reduction or migration policy in the Pacific region.
- Strong understanding of international frameworks such as the Nansen Initiative.
- Ability to engage with government officials, NGOs and other stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and written communication skills in English.
